Amondaige, due to their close proximity lays claim to it and is currently the ruling party, controlling the few farmable islands near the poles. But it hasn’t always been this way, originally it was colonized by Colchis during the seeding, and New Home had dispatched their own colonists to the planet as well. When the groups finally came into contact, and conflict, it rained hell on the planet, literally in fact as several nuclear detonations near the polar ice caps caused a majority of the water to melt. This turned the world from about 60% water to 80% water and flooded out both factions larger colonies. Following the dispersion of the jump drive to the general population of the Islands, the colony turned into a battleground for the major powers in the south of the Old Islands subsector. Following the formation of the Old Island Defense league, a stipulation was added that so long as the Amondiage Imperial Government stood, they would control Acadie. While this upset the older more powerful nations they accept it in return for the population of the AIG and the support of the empire. Today Acadie is undergoing another period of civil unrest. Thought provoked by the other members of the OIDL, their parent planet cares little. Amondiage has done everything they can to make sure Acadie stays dependent on them, which leads to the people born there to have a less than positive view of their imperial overlords. The capital city is where most of the population resides, sitting on the largest habitable continent in the northern hemisphere. While the nearby mining complex town of Houillon continues to fall into violence as the general labor strikes have begun to affect the economy of the planet, and in turn their support from Amondiage. The reports that come across my desk every week show a planet that is the brink of a civil war. I would advise against anyone travelling here if they don’t need to. Those that do travel to Acadie should do their best to be quick about their time on the planet, and make sure to be armed. The local resistance would have no issue taking a hostage if they thought it could get them some more bargaining power. While the reports thus far on AIG fleet movements seem to suggest that they are preparing for a full on military pacification. How long until the vital world falls into another war is currently unknown, and I’d like to keep from having to request a ship to extract any United Federation of Earth Citizens. Long Live the D.A.M. of the United Federation of Earth and her Colonies Among the Stars.
