## List of Skills
The Following is a pure list of the skills by name in the Known Universe RPG. For a greater reference of their meaning check out the Player Book.
### Physical Skills
#### Fortitude Skills
- **[[Drinking and Drugs]]**** - When you want to use stimms, or downers, or other dugs/chems you roll with this skill against the drugs listed difficulty. Also used when you need to drink a lot for a social event, such a fund raiser, or at a bar to get information. Can also be used for knowledge of what different drugs are, their effects, how they can be used, etc.
- **[[Endurance]]**** - Feats of great fortitude like running a long distance, holdings ones breath, taking a hard beating, etc.
- **[[Resist Torture]]**** - When someone is putting the squeeze on your - literally - this is the skill to use.
#### Brawn
- **[[Athletics]]**** - Feats of strengths, muscle, and brawn. Weight lifting, arm wrestling. Including Jumping, climbing, and swimming.
- **[[Demolitions]]**** - Breaking buildings down, cutting into tanks or star ships, or dealing with small scale dynamite explosives, this is the skill you would use.
- **[[Heavy Weapons]]**** - The skill for making use of Heavy Weapons, like machine guns, rocket launches, etc, artillery, and vehicle mounted weapons. (Artillery, Man Portable, Mounted)
- **[[Interrogation]]**** - When you need to get a confession out of someone - true or not - this is the skill to use. Set morality aside, and get some kind of knowledge from the target.
- **[[Melee Combat]]**** - The skill used when in Melee Combat. (Unarmed, Blade, Bludgeon, Natural, Magic)
- **[[Throw]]**** - When you want to throw something, like a ball, or a grenade.
#### Reflex
- **[[Acrobatics]]**** - Leaping between catwalks, grabbing ledges, etc
- **[[Contortionist]]**** - Flexing your body to the max, bending a weird angles to fit into spaces you shouldn't normally be able to, etc.
- **[[Dodge]]**** - Used to dodge someone's attack in melee combat, or if you've got +3 in the skill, you can try and dodge a gunshot.
- **[[Gun Combat]]**** - The skill for shooting people with guns. (Blaster, Direct Energy, Slug, Void, Archaic)
- **[[Gunner]]**** - Used for big turrets and weapons that need a specialized gunner at a console. Generally a shipboard gunner rather then a person in the field. (Capital Ship, Orbital Artillery, Point Defense, Heavy, Light)
- **[[Hide and Conceal]]**** - When you have to hide, finding a dark corner, or where you clothes might blend in. Also used for concealing, or covering something.
- **[[Steal]]**** - Steal, pickpocket, loot, thieve, take, etc. All of that is what this skill encompasses, works with with **[[Stealth]]****
- **[[Stealth]]**** - Stealing and Sneaking. Used for getting around, going unseen, getting past a guard, avoiding detection, moving quietly, or without alerting those who might not near.
### Mental Skills
#### Intelligence
- **[[Appraise]]**** - Used to tell the rough value of an item, object, or group of items or objects, ranging from a single rare gem to a store hold full of dishwashers.
- **[[RPG/RPG V1/Players Book/Skills/Mental Skills/Intelligence Skills/Art]]**** (Photography, Holography, Simu-Media, Instrument, Visual media, Writer)
- **[[Ciphers]]**** - Used to encode secrete knowledge, shorthand, and other codes, can be used to hide, encrypt, or otherwise do things with ciphered information.
- **[[Computers]]**** (Simple Use, Research, Programming, Hacking)
- **[[Concentration]]**** - Focusing your mind on a problem at hand to recall something, a feat of memory, physical control over your body, or other acts of concertation.
- **[[Examine]]**** - Used when you want to investigate or search an area for hidden compartments, rooms, etc. Things which might be otherwise obscured or hidden and which the players might struggle to uncover. As well as Knowledge on how to incorporate keen observation, noticed perceptions, forensic and detailed analyses, searching a crime scene, watching security monitors or review footage, etc.
- **[[Forge]]**** - Create false or misleading, but realistic looking documents or documentation.
- **[[Gambler]]**** - When you want to gamble, play games of change played by many people.
- **[[Healthcare]]**** - Used for healing and taking care of people. (First Aid, Medicine, Surgery, Pharmacy)
- **[[Language]]**** - Speak a language (Axios Common/Political, Britannian, Federation Common, Germushian, High/Low Imperial, High/Low Versian, Jyd-I, Tekka, Traders Cant, Utopian, Witcher, Xiao-Ming, Syth)
- **[[Lip Reading]]**** - Understanding what someone's lips are saying, ranging from picking up a few words to understanding the whole thing. This requires the reader to know the language of the speaker.
- **[[Listen]]**** - Listening to conversations, where a sound comes from, things from behind clothes doors, or other such things.
- **[[Logic]]**** - Using logic so solve problems, understand buzzles, and deal with situations of demonstration and inference. Understanding a complex math equation for example, deciphering a philosophical argument, arguing with a court over the validity of a law.
- **[[Navigation]]**** - When you need to find your way, whether by stars on a world, streams, nature, or otherwise. Finding a direction on the ground. Plotting a course with satellites, etc
- **[[Profession]]**** - The Skills you might pickup on a job, but not necessarily those which you'd learn or otherwise get. (Archeologist, Armourer, Belter, Biologicals, Civil Engineering, Chemist, Construction, hydroponics, Linguist, Polymers, Shipwright, Stellar-Cartogrpher, Trader, Wanderer)
- **[[Recon]]**** - The ability to scout out dangers and spot threats, noticing objects which are out of places, or people who don't belong.
- **[[Streetwise]]**** - Used to understand urban environments and power structures in society.
- **[[Survival]]**** - The wilderness version f streetwise. its knowledge of living in nature, building shelters, surviving the cold, trapping animals and the like.
- **[[Track]]**** - Follow a person, vehicle, or things tracks such as mud prints, or footsteps in mud, blood trail, etc.
#### Education
- **[[Accountant]]**** - Gives you an understanding of keeping books and accounting in general.
- **[[Animals]]**** - Animals is the skill for working with animals. Takes a bit of training to know how to handle different creatures. Each subtype deals with a different aspect. (Handling, Training, Veterinary, Riding)
- **[[Astrogation]]**** - The plotting of ones FTL course, differs depending on what type of FTL system is being used, and thus what sort of plotting must be done. (Spatiagation, Stellargation, Caelumgation)
- **[[Business]]**** - knowledge of the law and regulations related to running a business or corporation in a given industry, how to get connections, etc.
- **[[Electronics]]**** (Comms, Remote Operations, Sensors, Electronic Locks)
- **[[Engineering]]**** - The skill for drawing up plans for complex things, generally aboard spaceships, stations, or habitats, and other high tech environments. (FTL Drive, Life Support, Maneuvering Drive, Power)
- **[[Knowledge]]**** - General knowledge, not of any special domain, but more knowledge about things going on in the world. (Common, Forbidden)
- **[[Law]]**** - Knowledge of various legal systems, how to research legal cases, and general knowledge of law.
- **[[Lockpicking]]**** - Knowledge of locks, lockpicking, making locks, lock-smithing, etc. (Electronic, Mechanical, Archaic)
- **[[RPG/RPG V1/Players Book/Skills/Mental Skills/Education Skills/Religion]]**** - Academic/theological, education based, knowledge of the supplied religion, or religion in general. (Sgmarism, Jyd-I-Ism, Sythism, Witcherism, Gatism, Deorism, Cults)
- **[[Research]]** - Used when you want to research something, whether from a book library, or library on a computer
- **[[Scholarly Studies]]** - Scholarly studies are the sorts of things you'd go to university or college for. They're focused specialist skills and knowledge. (Anthropology, Augmentation, Archaeology, Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Cosmology, Criminology, Economics, Genetics, Geology, Heraldry and Nobility, History, Legends and Myths, Linguistics, Literature, Natural History, Occult, Philosophy, Physics, Planetology, Psychology, Psychoanalysis, Robotics, Rhetoric, Sophontolgy, Voidology, Xenology)
- **[[Space Suit]]** - Putting on, operating in, and generally operating pressurized suits, space suits, and other specialized suits of armour. Generally one only needs to have the skill, but in difficult moments or situations, checks may be required to do normally common things. Not having the Space Suit skill while trying to do something in a Space Suit incurs a -2 penalty.
- **[[Tactics]]** - Broad knowledge of in tactics, can be used in their respective environments (Large Scale Ground, Small Scale Ground, Wet navy, Airforce, Stellar Navy, Debate)
#### Technical
- **[[Drive Land Vehicle]]** - The skill for driving vehicles which travel on a planets surface. (Heavy machinery, Walker, Wheel, Hovercraft, Mole, Track)
- **[[Pilot Air Vehicle]]** - The Skill for flying vehilces which only travel within a planets atmosphere. (Airship, Grav, Ornithopter, Rotor, Wing)
- **[[Pilot Sea Vehicle]]** - The skill for travelling the seas and other bodies of water.
- **[[Pilot Star Vehicle]]** - The skill for flying ships which leave a planets atmosphere.
- **[[Repair Tech]]** - Repair is the **[[Technical]]** is used for repairing and maintain various things technical devices. (Basic Tech, Augtec, Weapons Tech, Land Vehicles, Small Space Craft, Large Space Craft, Air Vehicles, Sea Vehicles)
- **[[Use Tech]]** - Allows for the use of complex or otherwise difficult, alien, or ancient technology, machinery, or items. Including tinkering with, and repairing said items.
### Social Skills
#### Charisma
- **[[Advocate]]** - The ability to practice law, enforce rhetoric with it, oratory, public speaking, and debate skills. Compliments well with law.
- **[[Bargain and Commerce]]** - The skill of bargaining, bartering, etc trading money, goods or information for whatever might be needed.
- **[[Bribery]]** - Knowing when, how, how much, and how to approach someone to keep quiet about something
- **[[Deception]]** - When you need to lie or deceive someone, obscure the truth in conversation, or spin information to get an advantage.
- **[[Inquire]]** - The art of gathering information through ease dropping, conversation, and question asking. Getting information on recent events and going ons.
- **[[Intimidate]]** - When you need to show your strength, to pressure someone into doing what you need through pure personality and presence
- **[[Leadership]]** - Being Commanding, and inspiring.
- **[[Performer]]** - The skill of entertaining, and enthralling a group of spectators. (Dancer, Musician, Singer, storyteller, Politician, Orator)
#### Attractiveness
- **[[Carouse]]** - The ability to drink, party, have a good time, and entertain others while doing so. The art of running corporate events, being a host at a party, ensuring people have fun with your great humour.
- **[[Charm]]** - Sometimes you need to get people on your side, and charm is used to get them on your side.
- **[[Disguise]]** - Wearing a costume, makeup, faking a uniform or what's needed to sneak into a job site, how to take advantage of lighting, etc.
- **[[Human Perception]]** - Reading people, their body language, facial expression, etc, to figure out if they're lying, what their mood is, etc.
- **[[Personal Grooming]]** - Taking care of how you look. Knowing how to look good, cool, bad, and everything in between.
- **[[Wardrobe and Style]]** - Knowing which clothes to wear where; the art of looking good whether you're disposing of a corpse or entertaining the nobility.
#### Social Standing
- **[[Credit Rating]]** - Sometimes you need money from the bank, loan shark, fixer, or other such person. In this case the credit rating skill can be used get access to said credit.
- **[[Diplomat]]** - For when you need to make the right introductions, whether in the corporate board room or first contact with aliens, a new ambassador, or a new commanding officer.
- **[[Fast Talk]]** - When you need to get someone to agree with you, can be used to convince guards that you need to get it, borrow a car, or otherwise do something within reason.
- **[[Persuade]]** - used to persuade a target that an idea or theory is true, such a politician, or giving a boss an excuse. A more casual version of diplomat.
- **[[Steward]]** - The art of dealing dealing with the rich and powerful, guests and the like. Similar to carouse, but more general.
### Spiritual
#### Magic
- **[[Word Magic Skill]]** (Void, Aether, Material, nether, Abyss)
- **[[Psyiscience]]** - The ability to 'feel' the ebb and flow of the various [Planes of Existence](https://publish.obsidian.md/known-universe-rpg/Planes+of+Existence) within and around in the present plane, and the interaction between them.
- **[[Religious Magic|Religious Magic]]** (Sigmarian Chants, Guild-Seer Hymns, Void-Forcer Prayers, Investigators Incantations)
