## Tech Level Tech Level (TL) refers to the rough level of technological advancement. However, most societies do not neatly fall into a single tech level, so these levels should be considered as broad categories along a range of values, rather than hard and fast stop points. It's also important to note that the upper crust of a very advanced TL 5 planet can reasonably expect to have some TL6 gear, and TL4 gear should be cheap. The Tech Levels are: | Tech Level | Rough Level Of Technological Development | | ---------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | 0 | No technology, at best has stone-age level tools | | 1 | Science is religion and magic, basic weapons and metalworking is possible, bronze or early iron age | | 2 | True iron age to early renaissance, basic science exists and the scientific method has been developed | | 3 | Start of industrial revolution, firearms are now common in warfare, steam power is taking off | | 4 | The heart of the industrial age, dawn of plastics, radio, trains are common, cars are starting to exist | | 5 | Electrification and the spread of basic tele-communications infrastructure, primitive computing and basic atomic ideas exist. | | 6 | Basic computing, early space age, late industrial era.
