# Ship Orders
A ship order is how you tell your fleets to do anything in the game. There are five types of ship orders, which will be explained below.
## How to Execute a ship order
To execute a ship order, you must submit a Ship Order Form to the Game Master (Thomas) before the end of that Rounds Free Play Phase.
The Ship order form must contain information for at least one fleet. You must have the fleets starting and ending location (for a defensive order you can leave ending location blank). You must circle the type of order being submitted.
The form must have your name written in the issuing player section. You must fill in which round it is submitted on. When you submit the order to me, we will mark the time I received it at, and then both sign it to confirm its submission.
Ship order forms can be picked up from Barbara in the Office.
## Types of Ship Orders
1. Move
1. Move a fleet at the source location to the destination location, so long as it is within the fleets MOVE range, as determined by its tech level.
2. Build
1. Order a naval construction yard to build a fleet. Source is the Yard which is building the fleet, Destination is where the fleet should appear. In the notes section, write the Tech Level of the fleet you are building. The Cost of the fleet must be given with the Order. **Build Orders are always built at the _start_ of the next round/the end of the combat phase.** _you may submit a fleet order for the newly constructed fleet during said next round._
2. You can build ships/fleets for other nations.
3. The destination cannot be outside the move range of the fleet.
3. Upgrade/Downgrade
1. Order a fleet to be upgraded or downgraded to a desired tech level. If Upgrading, you must pay the associated resource cost, if downgrading, you are payed out half the difference in resources between the fleets starting level and its ending level.
1. For example, a fleet at Tech Level 3 being downgraded to Tech Level 1 will refund half of the difference in resources between the two, rounding down.
2. Thus is a tech level 3 fleet costs $100, 3 pop, 5 production, and 4 food, and a tech level 1 fleet costs $25, 1 pop, 2 production, and 1 food, the refunded value (rounding down) is half of: $100-25m 3-1, 5-2, 4-1 = 75/2, 2/2, 3/2, 3/2 = 37, 1, 1, 1.
2. A fleet may move up to half its Speed value to fulfil this order.
4. Attack
1. Move and attack a system, ships in that system, or a fleet passing through that system.
1. If you wish to attack a fleet passing through a system, make sure to write that in the notes section of the Order.
2. A fleet may move up to half its Speed value to fulfil this order.
5. Defend
1. Remain in a system and defend it.
2. If this fleet is attacked, treat its tech level as 1 higher then it is for the sake of this combat.
