# The Gang Overview - Spans the time from just before the introdution of the Hyperdrive in the UFE through to the end of the First Order attempted Coup/Civil War. - Starts with a low level criminal who joins a small time pirate crew to run from planetary law enforcement - He's charming, a bit smart, funny, and has a kindness to him. Hard working and willing to get his hands dirty, but isn't the best at basically anything. He's just okay at things. - The first arc is him coming to be comfortable with the fact that he is a jack fo all trades, and leveraging this to give him experience and develop contacts everywhere - When he joins the pirates, they're a crew of ~300 aboard a small void ship taking small prizes and cash. - He's a young and eager idiot wanting to prove himself. - When they leave the planet, they start 'training' by having them practice fighting and learning the basics of working aboard the ship. - Slowly meet various crew memebres - Basically, this section and generation are all about small scale stuff. They have A void ship, and think that makes them a real threat to people compared to the pirates of their mental days, mostly being small time warp pirates and the like. - Our character goes on a few heists, the first one we follow. Its intense as he has a group of people at gun point but lets them go in exchange for their money. Looting the ships is easy he comes to feel - Then a real encounter comes when they try and raid another ship, but instead its a trap laid by the UFE navy who have been hearing about this nusuice, they attack and cripple the ship, board her, and either kill or take people prisoner, including our main character. - Then we have a trial, they are found guilty of piracy and sentences to 10 years in prison with counciling and job training. - MC on prison-barge meets a void-poet (someone who writes/records poetry and shares it on the voidnet) who he develops a friendship with - However he was split from his crew. On the barge people grow to dislike each other, MC is attacked by another of the prisoners who is restrained. - Mc is then attacked by several others a few days later, who blame him for his previous attacker having his sentence extended. - MC this time fights back but fails, takes his puncehs and stays down. Eventually his attackers believe he got hte message and get bored - From then on during his time in prison he spends his tiem befriending the poet, and learning buisness skills hoping to go legit. - this includes the government helping ot get him connections. - When he is released, he is given an interview with a small trade company who has a few ships using new Hyperdrive technology licensed by a subsidary of First Order Trade. - After taking a job at the trade company, he quickly shows his skills as a starman and time as a pirate to avoid a trap and outmanvouver a faster void-capable pirate vessle which was barring down on them. - These victories earn him a promotion, and he's made an officer of trade. - After a few trading missions, he brings in enough money to buy his share of a trade ship with the company, and begins to set out. Using the connections he developed under his previous captain. - But quickly he finds that he other captain doens't like the competiion on his routes, so needing to find a new market he returns to the grounds his priate fleet used to raid to find better patrols here now. More void ships. For now he begins legit trade - During this time, at a stop over he runs itno the poet on a station during a lay over. As the two catch up, the MC offers the poet a ride, and the poet who didn't have a true destination accepts. - However the trade routes start to turn bad, and on a failed return mission his ship is attacked by a larger pirate. Struggles to out run the pirate at sublight speeds. Ends up in combat. - uses his better experience and skills to disable the pirate, and then leads a boarding action with his men. Eliminating hte other ships senior crew, he offers the rest the chance to go legitmiate and join his service as he was taking posession of the ship, the crew accept. - he then takes those of his small 20ish perosn trade crew who want to coem with him, including the poet, while letting the rest take his stake and the ship back to the company, along with MC's resignation. - With a damage ship and a large purse, the MC hops the void-capable ship over a few systems and gets it repaired, and even a few upgrades. better shields, sublight engines, and a hyperdrive, to compliment its already impressive offensive capacities. - Now he sets out to restore the trade contact with the First Order Shipping people. They decline. - Then he goes to the grounds which he first served aboard a trade ship in, and attempts to call on old connections there. - To do so, he attends a dinner thrown by the subsectors premier rising noble, who wanting to make an impact has invited all the new and old nobility. The MC attends, as does his old captain. The tow meet, and have an icy exchange, wherein the Captain insinuates that hte MC is a traitor. - Having his honour insulted, the MC demands satisfaction. The Room is shocked and divide. Many of the older guard find this a gaudy and showy display, while many of the new find this a proper challenge, a demonstration of what every person in the room wishes they could do with at least one if not many others. - With his name secured from victory in the duel, though not without taking a lesser rated wound of his own, the party resumes. The MC now has an in with the new, and begins developing relationships there, making a few deals. - Then the MC takes his first load of cargo, and some passangers including a few nobles and their entourage aboard his ship. They are charmed and deligned by the poet, who regales them with tails of the MC's heroics, while the senior staff seems more offputting. However, the trade is done successfully and more is promised to flow. - A few months later one of hte old guard, feeling too threatend, launched a combined political and social attack on a new guard mining company whom MC had done hauling for. - Now he uses his new guard connections to share the poets work, and elevate the poet into a position where he can help to support the MC and his faction in their mission. - While heading in to pick up minerals, the ship comes under attack by some pirates, through skillful work of the crew, and his commanding skill, he gets them into a cloud which covesr them, sneaks to the planet, and starts loading the ship. Howver one fo the pirates stumbles on them, as it begins to flee using the better spee dof the new ship he waprs up to them, drops a missile - something which takes great skill from the tactical offier - which forces their enemy out of warp. The two then engage in battle, and the MC leads a boarding action to take the rival ship. - Then using the fab aboard his own ship, and the caputred ship, as well as the store of resource, he is abel to get both ships repared to an acceptbale standard. Then they go on the offensive, destroying one and capturing the toher of the pirate ships. THe three ship then return to the minig world, find a mercenary ship in orbit which they'd missed previously, capture the ship adn find out a platoon of mercs are on the ground. - MC heads down to ground in shuttle in time with two dozen troops, fifty mercs are attacking the compound. Fighting ensues, wherein the mercs push the troops back. but more shuttles are deployed, and with a missle from space the mercs pull a retreat. The following night, the ships reinforce the outpost and wait out the mercs. - the planet is of limted hospiblity. - after a few days of waiting, another group fo pirate vessles hyperspcae into system, including a pirate troop carrier. - A space battle ensues, wherein one of MC's ships is destoyed, and the trooper carrier is able to land on the planet, but the other ships are either taken or routed. - the landed ship is then fired upon, while its troops and vehicles attack teh mining outpost, which is unable to defend itself. THe mission changes to evacuating the post, wherein a rush of shuttles are launched, adn the MC has the cargo void-porter converted ot be used for people, and gets most of the miners and his 'marines' out. - He then pulls his ships out. Goes to meet with his allies, and convinces htem to invest in his company, to he can expand his fleet. They do so, and he buys several more hyperspcae ships, large and small. He also develops a close friendship with and introduce to his group of rising nobility and power brokres the owner of a hyperspcae company. The group agrees, and takes an interest in hyperspace. - Combinding his legimtate modle of trade for the new guard with their battle against the old guard, he uses his fleet for both legimtate trade, and what he calls anti-priacy operations wherein he goes 'pirate hunting' taking pirate ships capture himself, under questionabnle legal pretense, for use in his fleet. While not directluy enging in piracy anymore, he is effectively etqinguishing hte priate game. - But with the size of his fleet, he is abel to offer some price differences, but there is fairly stiff competion int he realm of trade, and pirate grouips are starting to get wise to him and are growign large and more bold. - The MC now has a large, and moderately successful trade business with his ship in this subsector, but he wants to expand. Returning to the old trade compajny he used to work for, he propsitions the owners with a buy out, but they decline. - He decides to force them into selling.
