The United Federation of Earth is one of the oldest, largest, and most powerful nations in the Known Universe. Its domain fully encompasses three galaxies, and is a dominant power in several others, with colonies in even more galaxies, and domination over a large number of dwarf galaxies. Its navy rules the stars, and is the pride of Federation populous. The Federation is a society permeated by class divides. The Aristocracy and those in their circle enjoys lives well beyond the imagination of the lowest working classes. However the Federation's nobility are not all hereditary exploitative groups, many Sovereignties are fully communist in nature, others entirely democratic. The existence of replication devices and the widespread trade making their energy and material costs effectively meaningless to a developed planet mean that even for those on the lowest strata of society are able to enjoy a life of comfort and luxury, with the option of migrating to another Sovereignty which better suits their beliefs once for free in their life. this is because any citizen of the Federation regardless of place of birth is offered one free trip to Earth and return to a destination of their choice. The Federation is not a simple nation to describe. Its an eclectic Federation of various Sovereignties each with their own beliefs, social, political, and economic structures. While there are uniting principles, it is a nation deeply divided to its core. This is best represented in the Federations Government, split between the nobility and the people. Where-in Lords may control and rule over their land, and pass laws related to it, and must raise fleets and armies to defend it, and may expand their claims through warfare, but at the same time the people and their rights are ruled over by the far older three-house parliament, controlled by a President. All while the [[D.A.M]], a Lord elected by their peers, confirmed by Parliament, focus's on foreign policy and maintaining a long-term internal vision. All in all, the Federation is a behemoth trapped by two competing hunting parties, the creature unable to tear itself free from either of its captors, who are at the same time unable and unwilling to do what might be necessary to thrust their opponent off, because a balanced leader sits atop the beast commanding it and crushing any real attempt to dethroning it, while stoking the fighting between the two, so as to keep them destroying one anther and letting the creature escape free, destroying all in the process.
