# The Federations Dominons and Political Structures ## By Dr. Erika Gabbert professor of Structural Political Studies in the Department of Political Studies at the University of McRonto ## _The_ Federation ### Overview The Federation refers to the whole superstructure underwhich the dominions of the Federation exist. Due to the complex nature of Federation history, there are few clear boundaries on how things work within the Federation. Generally speaking, *The* Federation encompasses three peieces, united Under the [[D.A.M]] , Parliament, and the House of Lords, and their courts which are: The Sol Mega Sector, The Colonial Holdings, and the Dominions. Each of which is expanded on below. ### The Sol Megasector The Sol Megasector roughly encompasses the territories which made up the First Federation, and has retained a special status within the Federation ever since. This is due to its historic nature as the Birthplace of the Federation. Under modern law, it is best thought of as an entirely sated Barony under the ownership the [[D.A.M]] , whose fleet is the Federation fleet, and thus has parliamentary representation. The Megasector is both the most Conservatives and most decadent within the Federation. Home to many of the top 5%'s estates and homes, it is a place of wealth, splendor, and greatness. ### Colonial Holdings The Colonial holdings are lands which are not associated with any Independent dominion, but are still part of the Federation. Most of these are either controlled entirely by Lords, or by Parliament, but are not large enough to qualify as their own Dependent Dominion. AS such, they have a much more 'loose' bounding and regulations, but if they mess up, the reprisal is straight from Parliament or the Lords, and that much harsher. It should be noted, Colonial Holdings are named for the Galaxy in which the holdings are located. #### The Lords Council Berlinnic The Lords Council of Berlinnic is a three Lord council of those who control the vast in size but small in population Marques Sovereignties of the Federation in the galaxy with the Deutschland and on the Border of the Suki Corridor. #### Axion Assembly The Axion Assembly is a parliamentary body based on those nations in the Axion Alliance who are a Corexia with the Federation. It is known for being the home to many of the Liberation Party extremists. #### Versian Council of Asselyum The Verisan Council is the name given to the meeting of Versian Lords who have Corexia status with the Federation, but rule lands in the Versian Empire. They serve as a vital point for trade, and discreet communication, between the empires in entirely different galaxies. #### Parliament of the Varden Dwarf Galaxy - Dwarf of Palpatinous Galaxy The Parliament of Varden was 'granted' to the Federation shortly after the old remenant of the Terran Empire merged with Vers, forming the Third Vers Empire. Its Emperor, former [[D.A.M]] Ried, advised the Empress to give the 'liberal' Dwarf Galaxy to the Federation as an insurance payment to allow the marriage and Imperial union to go through unharmed. Now it is seen in popular culture as 'the Bulwark against the Imperial heartland' #### The Low Lords of the Ulben Dwarf Galaxy - Dwarf of Reverse Galaxy The Low Lord refers to the 'reclaimed' name for the Lords of Ulben, who are seen by much of the rest of the Federation as uncouth, uncivilized, barbarians. This is due to their highly militarized, chauvinistic, supremacist cultural beliefs. Formally they are a Corexia shared with Vers but who have essentially become all but independent of both governments due to their military focus. Some have described them as "an invasion force with lordships attached to it" ### The Dominions The Dominions represent independent semi or fully self governing regions in control of large swaths of a Galaxy. The Dominions are the main bodies or blocks of the Federation, and are composed of various Sovereignties themselves. ## Independent Dominions Independent Dominions are the largest 'blocks' of the Federation. They are effectively an entirely self governing country who is part of a free trade and movement pact, military pact and defensive pact, etc with each other and with representation as a whole in the Federation. ### United Dominion of Terra Nova Terra Nova is the Dominion which rules the Milky Way, except for the Sol Megasector. It is headed from Terra Nova, a planet near the galactic Center in the North Western quadrant. It is a young creation, created during [[D.A.M]] Goodwins Reforms. ### United Dominion of Utopia Utopia is the oldest of the Dominions, founded by the First Federation as an idealization of what the Federation could be, it has transformed greatly. After its flirtation with Utopia Fascism sparking the Great War, Utopia has been subjected by the Federation, and reformed to a more 'modern' form of Federation Governmentship. Utopians are generally more libertarian and progressive, as well as democratic idealists then the rest of the Federation. ### United Dominion of Takara The largest and most prosperous of the Second Federations colonies, Takara is a place known for adventure and a shot at making it rich - of success and opportunity. High risk, high reward. Its small size compared to the other Independent dominions doesn't discourage it from dreaming big. Its border with the Rhineland Refugee turned Germushian backed Narco State Scorpienza does deter some of the less ambitious and daring dreamers. ## Dependent Dominions Dependent Dominions are those semi-self-governing areas of the Federation which may have one half but not the other of a full dominion. They are larger and more self governing then a Colonial holding, but are not as independent as a Colonial or Independent dominion. ### Lordly Dominion of Tiwak - Dwarf Galaxy of the Milky Way The Lordly Dominion of Tiwak is where the Terra Novan Lords go for vacations. Those who live there have handsom lives, and its Lords profit greatly. It is a place where social norms don't exist, excess is common, gluttony is glory, and desire above decency. By House of Lords decree, it is forbidden for Parliament to form in Tiwak, as is it forbid to make war in 'such a heavenly splendor'. ### Baronage Dominion of Andromeda - Dwarf Galaxy of Utopia The Baronage was a foray to one of the Milky Way's closest neighbors, and was a stopping off point on the Journey to Utopia. The Second Federation took the area from Utopia during the Age of Exploration. During the Peoples Federation of Utopia Period, and especially during its f.ascists' ending, many persecuted Federation citizens fled to Andromeda, and the Liberation of Utopia was launched from the Baronage. ### Lordly Dominion of Morkedgvul - Dwarf Galaxy of Berlinnic Morkedgvul (Mork-edg-vul) is a Single Lord owned, sizeable Sovereignty off the Berlinnic Galaxy. It was taken during the Great war, and serves as an outpost in case of another war in the Berlinnic. ### Parliamentary Dominion of Canaca - Dwarf Galaxy of the Milky Way If Tiwak is the Lordly dominion of partying, Canaca is the retreat of the Federation Parliamentary upper classes, and the middle class citizens who want time in the Vacation Dominion. A booming economy, terraformed sectors into gaia worlds, the Parliament is known for ensuring its vacationers a good time and its vacation companies a healthy profit. ### Parliamentary Dominion of Pegasus - Dwarf Galaxy of Utopia Pegasus was an anti-fascist holdout during the dark years of Utopia. When the Federation finished liberating Utopia, and brought it into the Federation, it offered Pegasus Colonial Dominion status. The Dwarf refused, and instead asked for Dependent dominion status, with a charter banning Lords from bring created within their borders, and assurances of self government. It is home to perhaps the most true living embodiment of the early Federation ideals. ### Communal Dominion of Dewara - Dwarf Galaxy of the Milky Way Dewara is a corporate heaven in the Federation. Controlled by the Neartek corporation - maker of the AR-52&53 assault rifles used by the Federation Military - the Galaxy is effectively one big Military Arms Factory, producing whatever weapons and ammunition the Federation might need for its next war - and is entirely communally owned and operated. ## Colonial Dominions A Colonial Dominion is a large colonized area of a Galaxy, which has its own parliament and house of Lords, and thus is a colony which has been granted Dominion status - the right to its own [[D.A.M]] and taking control of its own future within the Federation. ### Colonial Dominion of Tahara Tahara is famed for its intellectual and spiritual riches, having worked closely to settle with the local cultures instead of forcably take them over, Tahara is a place for those who seek cultural enrichment. It is known for having lower military participation then any other Dominion. ### Colonial Dominion of Saldor Sellout Saldor is the nickname given to the tiniest, poorest and most Lordly colony of the Federation. Where up until recently the colonies Parliament granted itself the right to create new Lords, and charged whatever was necessary to finance a budgetary deficit to any eager noble looking for a status symbol. Recent Kinder[[D.A.M]] led reforms have put an end to this practice, but the Colony is still renow for its powerful Parliament, weak lords, and near constant interal warfare. All made worse by it being a relatively tiny piece of land, surrounded by more powerful or put together alien empires. ### Colonial Dominion of Maldeth Maldeth is an absolutists wonderland. The Lords fought for, and attained, near total command over the region. A weak parliament is rumored to pass whatever is put to them, and the [[D.A.M]] is said to rule with an iron grip.
